5 Style Tips Indian Brides Can Steal From Soha Ali Khan For Their Wedding

Bollywood weddings always inspire and provide a lot of ideas to many soon-to-be married couples to glam up their weddings. Be it the themes, décor ideas, or even the cuisines, almost everyone tend to steal some really cool tips from the weddings of these celebrities. And, when it comes to styling themselves for the D-day, even our soon-to-be brides never forget to look up to these celebrity brides for some tips. Yes, we know that you wish to emulate the panache of all the glamourous brides of Bollywood. Hence, we have fished out some really cool styling tips from the latest bride in the tinsel town, Soha Ali Khan.
So, here is what all soon-to-be brides can learn from this nawabi princess, and raise the glam-quotient on their wedding day.

#1. Throw in a mélange of outfits

A wedding affair has plenty of functions and you definitely would be having different outfits for each of them. But, what you must be careful about is not to keep your look similar for any two functions, just like Soha.

She carefully picked from a range of ensembles for all her functions. She donned a stunning gown for her cocktail party. But, she made sure to keep her look traditional for the mehendi ceremony, as she wore a heavily embellished lehenga with a long kurti. Since her wedding was an intimate do, she stuck to flaunting a simple off-white lehenga with an orange dupatta to set the mood right. And, as her reception was again a lavish event, she smartly draped a gold and hot pink lehenga for the evening.
#2. Accessorise it right
Nowadays, wedding jewellery choices are more dependent on dress designs and latest trends than heavy gold sets. Varuna D Jani, noted jewellery designer explains, “Your choice of jewellery should complement your sense of style. Finally, whatever you choose to wear, carry it off with confidence on the big day.” And, Soha teamed it just right when it came to accessorising her attire with jewellery and makeup.
For her mehendi ceremony, she preferred to club her heavy lehenga with just a pair of chand balis. And, when she flaunted a subtle lehenga on her wedding, she ensured to complement it with heavy traditional jewellery. Be it the traditional passa and the regular maang tikka, or the choker and long necklace, everything looked just perfect with her minimal makeup. Additionally, she made it a point to match the colour of her jewellery with the outfit that she wore in the reception party, rather than just wearing the bling.
#3. Unconventional mehendi
Looking at the trends, we can safely say that the mantra, ‘less is more’, is being followed even in themehendi ceremony of a bride. In fact, the bridal mehendi artist, Rama Singh, suggests, “Full traditional bridal mehendi designs are passé now, and negative spaces allow designs to stand out. So, a fusion of both intricate as well as bigger mehendi designs is the right thing to go for.”
Certainly, the gorgeous bride was well aware of it. That is why, she opted for a simple yet elegant design for her feet, than an entire web of mehendi covering them. The pattern looked more like an intricate weave of foot jewellery.
#4. Minimal makeup
Our beautiful bride certainly is an epitome of natural beauty. And, it seems that even she is aware of the same. Nowhere in the entire wedding celebrations, could we see her wearing heavy makeup.
In fact, all the brides can just steal Soha’s minimal makeup look for their big day, as it is the ‘in thing’ these days. A light makeup and your beautiful smile is all that is needed to make you look your best on your wedding day.

#5. Play with the colours

Gone are the days when just a few colours defined the mood of the Indian weddings. Pinks, mauves, oranges, and many other bright shades like these, are the ones to rock the bridal attire nowadays. So, even you can move away from the traditional hues to something that is more surreal.
n fact, you can take a cue from the ace designer who created Soha’s attire for her mehendi, Ritu Kumar. You will find a major part of the designer’s collection in subtle shades of ivory, off-white, grey, etc., which is truly redefining the Indian bridal fashion. Even for the other functions, our pretty bride added a variety of untraditional colours like bronze, light pink, off-white, orange, gold and hot pink.

Top 5 Parenting Tips

Good Parenting

Parenting is a skill which is enriched with daily experiences. All parents want their child to be the best. Good parenting means a great parent-child relationship. Here are some parenting tips which will help in forging a great bond with your children.

Every parent would love to know how they can be better parents to their precious children. Good parenting skills will help to develop a great relationship between you and your children. Good parenting is important in order to help your children grow into confident and well-adjusted individuals.
Parenting is not easy as many of you parents would have realized by now. These are some tips which will help to make the journey smoother and easier. These tips are not addressing a specific problem, they are just certain guidelines. These are general parenting tips which you can apply in your everyday life while bringing up the kids.

Top 5 Parenting Tips

Let us have a quick look at top 5 simple yet effective parenting tips.

1. Give Unconditional Love
Firstly you must remember that your children are not going to remain young always. Your child would not remain a baby or a pre-schooler forever. Time flies so fast, that they will grow up soon. Hence, you should make the most of your child’s growing years.
The childhood of your child is the time when you can spend maximum amount of time with your child and grow close to her. Once, they grow into teenagers and adults, they get so busy with their own lives. You should try to have as many as happy memories as possible of each age of your child from toddler to teenager. Let them know how much you love and that you will always love them.
2. Put Yourself in Their Shoes
If any time, you feel irritated by your child’s demands or feel that your child is being difficult, put your self in their shoes for a moment. Try to think about the time when you were a child and felt the same way. If your child wants to stay in her friend’s house and you do not want to allow her, think about it from your child’s point of view. Remember the time when you were also ten years old like her and you and your entire gang had planned to stay together in someone’s house.
Remember how you had plans to play games with each other and have a lot of fun. How excited you had felt about the whole idea and how bad you would have felt if you had missed it! Those times with friends will not come back and you as a parent today will cherish those childhood memories forever. In the same way, see the situation from your ten year old’s perspective.
3. Develop Healthy Eating Habits From a Young Age
Make it a point to feed your child healthy food right from a young age. Give them fruits instead of chips and pizza. If your children eat healthy foods right from a young age, then it is likely that the habit will continue till adulthood. Food habits developed at a young age often stay on till later in life. If children get used to eating nutritious and healthy food right from a young age, they are more likely to eat well as adults too.
4. Have Family-Time!
Many fathers come home late at night, by which time their children are already in bed. Make it a point to have at least one meal together as a family. Basically, you should try and make it a point to do something together as a family. Set aside fifteen minutes every evening, when the entire family will together clean the house! Or, you can also play some board games five days a week together like ‘Monopoly’. This will help all of you to bond together as a family and will also help siblings become closer.
5. Try to Make Your Children Self-Reliant
Try to make your child independent and self-reliant. Do not do everything for your child as this will make them more and more dependent on you. Children should be given an opportunity to do simple tasks which can be done by them, without the parent doing it for them. Some parents do everything for their children which can cause problems later on in life. When children do things by themselves, they become self-reliant which in turn increases self-esteem.
Also, avoid doing your child’s homework. Some parents do their child’s homework which is not right. You can guide your child and help them when they are doing homework, but do not do it for them.
Making your child do a little cleaning of the house, folding of clothes, and washing dishes, etc will help them to learn basic life skills which everybody needs to know.
These are some important parenting tips which can help parents during the journey of parenthood. At the end of the day, remember to be good role models for your child as parents are the biggest role models for children. Memories of parent-child relationship are special to every parent and child and these hold a special place in every parent and child’s heart!

Tips to increase positive vibes in your Home

Some places repel you so much that you could not wait to get away as soon as possible while some places are so positive that you want to spend the rest of your life there.  Well, blame it all on the vibes.  Like the body, even home too has a language and vibe of its own.  Good vibes of home not only just cheers you up but also inspires you and make you feel alive. And who does not like to be feel welcomed into a peaceful and serene home after a long day at work?
Increase the good vibes of your home with some easy tips that enhance the positive energy of your home and cleanse off the negativity (The tips that do not burn a hole in your pocket or require you to do something out of the way.)
Smell Good
In Feng Shui and Zen, fragrance plays a vital part to attract good vibes. The emanating aroma of candles and agarbattis lighten up the atmosphere. The rich aroma fills it up with soothing and pleasant fragrance that helps you to take your mind off the daily stress and stay focused.
Open Up!
The most cost-effective idea of the all! Simply remove the barrier between you and the Mother Nature. Open the windows, the first thing in the morning. Take some time out to listen to the morning choir of the sparrows that come by your window sills.  Switch off your TV for a while and ask your family members about their lives. If you all have a difficult schedule to follow, at least fix a day to have dinner together. The conversation will generate trust and positive energy that will reflect in the environment too.
Cut the Clutter
I have seen people holding on to stuff, which is not even needed or relevant to them.  Be it plastic bottles or mental trauma, dispose it off.  You can donate your old clothes and sweaters to the charity (another good deed) and deposit your old mobiles to the mobile stores for a proper recycling.  Newspapers and plastic bottles that no longer serve a purpose should be gotten rid of. Meditate or engage in a hobby to divert your attention.
Color it up!
Like your dressing style, your home needs color code too.  Move over the monochromes and do not hesitate to experiment with organic wall décor paints.  If you do not want to spend on renovation, you can always opt for wall stickers and wall papers that are pocket-friendly and DIYs.
Go Green
Be eco-friendly.  Introduce indoor plants and water fountains into your home décor. Green plants provide Oxygen and clean energy. In Feng Shui, water implies wealth and vibrancy.  Try to opt for eco-friendly décor that is made of sustainable elements such as bamboo furniture, clay idols and jute carpets and doormats.
It does not matter where you live, in a mansion or two-room apartment.  What matters is that you love your space for what it is.  Expect these tips will help you to attract positive vibes and stay at peace in your home.

How to buy a perfect pair of shoes for women?

How to buy a perfect pair of shoes for women?

No matter what your attire is, your shoes play an integral part in enhancing your outfit. So much variety, so many brands, shapes and colours, these exactly are the factors that make buying shoes a mind boggling task.
Here's the guide to buying a perfect pair of shoes, so the next time you plan on shoe shopping, instead of looking around perplexed, you can just get moving (quite literally) with your shoe shopping agenda!
Below we give a complete break-down of the different types of shoes available in the market and the types that you absolutely must have!

Pumps
With a platform heel along the ball of your foot, right up to your toes and a wedge or stiletto at the rear end of it, pumps are not only comfortable but they stand out making a style statement! The front platform gives you a firm footing, while the firm hold of the pump on your ankle prevents your foot from slipping out or twisting as you walk on rough roads. Pumps come in a variety of patterns, colours and materials, and are ideal for evening formal wear.

Ballerinas
One of the oldest and most comfortable forms of footwear, ballerinas need no introduction. Typically, ballerinas are flat, made of leather, rexene or cloth and have a slight gathering that tapers towards the toes. Ballerinas enclose your feet completely, thus protecting them from dirt etc. and as these footwear are flat hence there is no chance of ankle twists either. Modern day ballerinas have been adapted into ballet pumps or ballet sneakers meant for walking, running and suitable for formal wear whereas the original ballerinas are more suitable for everyday casual wear.

Boots
Boots are perfect to be worn during heavy rainfall, winters and snow (which unfortunately, is rare in our country). Nonetheless, boots never really go out of fashion, and they always add a trendy, chic vibe to your outfit. Made of thick material, boots cover your feet and ankle (can in some cases stretch up to your knees) thus protecting your legs from cold, rain and snow.
Admitting to the fact that they aren’t all-weather shoes, every woman should own a pair…surely sometime of the year shall be cold enough for you to put these on and enjoy the sexy, sporty feel it offers.

Flip-flops and floaters

No matter how many miles you’ve got to walk, flip-flops and floaters are here to save the day! Flip-flops, commonly known as slippers, are typically open-toed and come with no back-strap. While some may find this detrimental since it neither takes the shape of your foot, nor does it grip your foot firmly, many find this convenient, as your toes are free from being cramped up.
If you belong to the first group and don’t find flip-flops beneficial enough, you can always go for a pair of floaters. Floaters are also open-toed, have an adjustable back strap and also include Velcro or buckled straps ahead, which hold your foot firmly and make walking long distances a pleasurable experience. An ultimate choice for casual or beach wear, on jeans or shorts, flip flops and floaters will never let you down.

Wedges
Now here’s a type of shoe a woman can’t refuse! Wedges are shoes that are armed with a wedge heel at the back and platform heel towards the toes. Almost like pumps, they have a bigger heel that places itself evenly on the ground and saves you from tripping and falling face forward. What’s great about wedges is that they go with any outfit, be it shorts, a comfy pair of jeans, dresses or formal party wear.

Stilettos
Giving your outfit an exquisite, alluring touch are the stilettos, making you look party perfect for the evening (morning, afternoon and night as well). Named stilettos since the heel resembles a stiletto knife (like a sharp dagger), stiletto heels vary from 2 inches to 6 inches and in some cases even taller! While they may be designed as peep-toes or may cover your toes completely, it’s a fact that with the high heel and tapering front end, stilettos are best suited for parties and not for daily use or walking purposes.

Sport shoes
Be it any sport or just regular workouts, sport shoes are definitely a workout wonder! With a body of thick mesh material, good amount of sole padding, air pockets that oxygenate your feet as you run and a large width, sport shoes are just the right thing for fitness freaks.  The lace closure and ground gripping soles of sport shoes only add to the multitude of reasons as to why you should buy them.
Some tips for happy feet:
  • For shoes that taper towards the toes, it is advisable to buy a bigger size so that your feet do not get cramped up.
  • If you plan on wearing stilettos to a party, walk around the house in them for a while so that you get used to with the height.
  • Go for shoes with a slight padding as this will give you added comfort.
  • When buying sport shoes, consider your shoe size after putting on a pair of socks.
  • For regular wear, go for a pair of shoes depending on the climate of the city you live in. Open shoes in cold temperatures will lead to frost bites and numbness, whereas closed shoes in hot temperatures can lead to heat boils and infections caused by sweat.
Lastly, remember, always choose comfort over style! You surely aren’t going to enjoy an evening, looking at everyone on the dance floor, while you are sitting there massaging your foot and silently cursing yourself for making a wrong shoe choice.

MOM n BABY

The Baby Blues

Having a baby is the most joyous thing and yet stressful—no matter how much you've looked forward to it or how much you love your child. The baby blues are perfectly normal, so don't be guilty..
You’ve just had a baby. You expected to be basking in new mom bliss. You expected to be celebrating the arrival of your little one with your friends and family. But instead of celebrating, you feel like crying. You were prepared for joy and excitement, not exhaustion and anxiety.
You may not have been expecting it, but mild depression and mood swings are common in new mothers—so common, in fact, that it has its own name: the baby blues.
The vast majority of new mothers experience at least some symptoms of the baby blues, including moodiness, sadness, difficulty sleeping, irritability, appetite changes, concentration problems. Symptoms of the baby blues typically show up within a few days of giving birth and last from several days to a couple of weeks.
The baby blues are a normal part of new motherhood—probably caused by the hormonal changes that occur following birth. If you have them, there is no cause for undue worry. You’ll feel better once your hormones level out. Aside from the support of your loved ones and plenty of rest, no treatment is necessary.

Self Help

The more you care for your mental and physical well-being, the better you’ll feel. Simple lifestyle changes can go a long way towards helping you feel like yourself again.
  • Don’t skimp on sleep. A full eight hours may seem like an unattainable luxury when you’re dealing with a newborn, but poor sleep makes depression worse. Do what you can to get plenty of rest—from enlisting the help of your husband or family members to catching naps when you can.
  • Set aside quality time for yourself to relax and take a break from your mom duties. Find small ways to pamper yourself, like taking a bubble bath, savoring a hot cup of tea, or lighting scented candles.
  • Make meals a priority. When you’re depressed, nutrition often suffers. What you eat has an impact on mood, as well as the quality of your breast milk, so do your best to establish healthy eating habits.
  • Ease back into exercise. Studies show that exercise may be just as effective as medication when it comes to treating depression, so the sooner you get back up and moving, the better. A 30-minute walk each day will work wonders.
